We're also using it in our new home for stair tread material....it should look great! And I suppose there is a chance that a granite counter top could give off some radon. However, it's really unlikely that a thin slab of granite would be an issue especially considering that the slab has been exposed to the atmosphere for quite a long period time by time it's in your home. Certainly an issue worth discussing but my gut reaction is this shouldn't be an issue. @ Anita – Granite deep in the earth does contain radon.
