Did you know that true Linoleum is Green? That's right, it's true, you heard it right here, linoleum is considered a green building material. Linoleum is made from solidified linseed oil, jute and other natural, rapidly replenished ingredients.
Linoleum has lost it's market share over the years for more aesthetically pleasing materials like engineered wood and ceramic tile. Linoleum also had a serious stigma surrounded by the use of asbestos in the backing material years ago. However, today's linoleum is not only environmentally friendly but it comes in so many designs, colors and textures that it's making a big come back with designers.
Not only is natural linoleum considered a green product because of it's use of natural products but it's also considered a non-allergenic material because of the lack of VOC's. Linoleum has been awarded the British Allergy Foundation's Seal of Approval.
If you're looking for a new floor then consider natural linoleum. If you have severe allergies then natural linoleum may just be what the doctor ordered!

Which things that might be labeled linoleum or look like linoleum are not green?
I have heard that linoleum is a green product. The only problem is that it looks really cheap. I would prefer to get bamboo or cork floors as they look much nicer.
Actually....bamboo may not be as green as you think http://www.todaysgreenconstruction.com/2008/07/is-bamboo-flooring-green.html
